The Engine is Red partnered with LCRA Parks to build a brand and digital platform that was as bold and welcoming as the parks themselves. Together, we crafted a story-forward site that celebrates Texas’ natural beauty, connects with modern outdoor lovers, and makes it easier than ever to plan, book, and get outside.
Building a Park Brand as Big as Texas
LCRA Parks is more than a collection of campsites and trails—it’s a public trust, built on service and fueled by a love for the outdoors. We helped transform that legacy into a modern brand rooted in hospitality, accessibility, and Texas pride.
From voice and messaging to web design and UX, we centered the entire experience around one goal: Make people want to go outside.
We leaned into emotional storytelling, playful headlines, bold typography, and real Texas photography to bring the parks to life. Where other outdoor websites booking felt complex, we strived to understand what our audience’s would be searching for so we could make booking a campsite or planning a day trip even easier, so our audience can spend less time online and more time getting to the parks. We spoke to our audience like a fellow neighbor and friend, hoping every page reminds visitors that these parks are for them, whether they are an avid adventurer or a sit-by-the-campfire enthusiast.

From the Hill Country’s wooded trails to the calm shores of the lower Colorado River, LCRA Parks spans multiple ecosystems and activity types. We created a digital framework that reflects that diversity while keeping things unified and intuitive.
The new site offers custom filtering for activities and locations, vibrant park pages, interactive maps, and clear, friendly calls to action.
