CHALLENGE

HELP bonfire increase their organic search rankings in a category where being first is everything

Bonfire is a campground management and reservation software company that needed help boosting their organic search rankings after they launched.

HOTS reviewed competitor rankings, industry best practices and keyword analytics to develop a holistic SEO strategy.

After identifying keyword and phrases targets, we re-optimized copy site-wide. We built blog posts designed to position Bonfire as a valuable content destination and authority in the category.  We launched a comprehensive paid search campaign. Then to help signal authority with Google, we worked with other high-traffic websites to create a natural backlink profile.

Bonfire now has top 3 search rankings for 11 relevant industry keywords.

STRATEGY

Any good strategy begins with thorough research. We developed a list of keywords and phrase targets by cross referencing competitors in organic and paid search. We then focused our approach around content creation, industry best practices, and attracting backlinks from high-traffic websites. Our paid ads were used to confirm changes made to the site had a positive SEO impact.

TRAFFIC

By running ads for all the priority keywords, we were able to use Google Adwords tracking tools to measure changes made to the site and determine which ads were leading to more visitors and new customers. PPC campaigns gave us REAL data that informed our next moves in optimizing for search.

THE CONTENT

We optimized content  to include multiple popular keywords. Building quality content isn't about stuffing as many words as possible onto a page, it's about variety, relevance, and most importantly, value. The language we used to write was conversational, informative, and directly addressed typical curiosities of visitors. Title tags and meta descriptions were also built strategically with SEO in mind. This resulted in not only boosting the organic search for multiple keywords, but also resulted in Google using one of our newly created blog posts as a featured snippet  for campground management.

RESULTS

In the months following our SEO efforts, Bonfire sales from search have increased by over 300%. 

SEO success doesn't have to be mystical, it comes down to 3 simple things; research, strategy, and content.
